Capturing Nigeria’s Diverse Individuals
Ajobiewe Tolulope, a photographer based in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria uses his camera to capture the infectious joy of the average Nigerian and aims to portray the diversity of its wonderful individuals.
By The Roadside
This image captures two young women, both going about their daily call. Several activities take place by the roadside in Nigeria. There you will find traders, hawkers, trespassers, workers, butchers, drivers, and etcetera. In this case there are two characters; the plantain (trader) and the passerby in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Habiba (the trader) knows how to make one salivate while you reach your pockets to patronise her plantain. She is happy doing what she does.
The Highway Craze
Motor-cyclers have a special force/squad that keeps them in check. These men are with honour yet without badge like the Police, but they sure know how to bring some mix of sanity and insanity on the highway.
Behind the Art scene
Not everybody can/will ever become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. This fellow (Mba Gwabare Art) dreams art, lives art and is art. He is also deaf (hearing impaired).
Thoughts travel through humble frames every minute and we cannot hold them back. The calmness and composure that sprouts from the faces of bookworms often times commensurate with the serenity and calmness in the library.
Palm Kernel is a fleshy fruit from which palm oil is derived and many other products like soap, cream, local materials for road construction to mention but a few. Interestingly, the fruit has no waste products.
Up in Kernel Land
Sometimes Men i.e. husbands and fathers go a long way to cater and provide for their families. However meager the pay from his grinding business is, his mind is not an idle one and of course they need to be celebrated.
You are Beautiful
Martin Lurther King Jnr, said – we should not be judged by the colour of our skins but by the content of our character. Black is beautiful, in fact a better way to put it is; “if it is not black it is not beautiful.” The model smiles and exudes confidence in the colour of her skin.
Cheers to tomorrow
Tomorrow remains a mystery. Live for today is here; be happy for yesterday you conquered, and hawk smiles, that tomorrow might be great again.
